Health & Safety Policy

Hip Hop to Help

Hip Hop to Help is committed to making sure that our dance teachers, Board of Trustees, Directors, participants, audiences, other workers and volunteers who carry out activities on behalf of Hip Hop to Help, and anyone else affected by our activities are kept healthy and safe in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. We must all work together to manage risks and meet our legal responsibilities.

To make sure that this happens, we will:

  • Carry out risk assessments to identify what could cause harm and what steps need to be taken to reduce or remove this.

  • Ensure that all venues where sessions are held have a fully stocked First Aid kit, an accident book and a member of staff on the premises who is First Aid trained. Ensure that a Health and Safety briefing takes place at the start of events.

  • Look for good advice from the Health & Safety Executive to help us meet our health and safety responsibilities.

  • Ensure that any locations for our activities have toilets, washing facilities and drinking water available for all our dance teachers, Board Members, Directors, participants, other workers and volunteers.

  • Give people the opportunity to raise any health and safety concerns as outlined in the Hip Hop to Help Incident Reporting Policy.

  • Make sure that everyone who carries out activities on behalf of Hip Hop to Help is aware of the contents of the HSE publication Health and Safety Law – what you need to know (available from http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/law.pdf ). This document will be made available via www.hiphoptohelp.com

  • Report on any work-related accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to the CEO. The CEO will record these and take any necessary action. The procedure for reporting accidents/incidents is outlined in the Hip Hop to Help Incident Reporting Policy.

  • Make sure that all dance teachers, Board Members, Directors, participants, audiences, other workers and volunteers know that they are responsible for taking care of their own health and safety.

This policy is fully supported by Senior Management and the Board.

This policy will be reviewed annually and amended when necessary. It may also be reviewed should any new, relevant legislation require this.

Date of implementation: July 2023
